    Union County Educational Services Commission is a public school district located in Westfield, NJ that was established to provide cost-effective educational services for the 21 member districts in Union County.

    The Commission is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Guidance Counselor to fill a leave replacement at Hillcrest Academy – North Campus in Scotch Plains and South Campus in Westfield. These innovative alternative high schools were developed to provide highly supportive and individualized programs to academic, socially and emotionally at-risk students who were unable to meet success in a traditional educational environment.  We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of students. This position involves working closely with students, parents, and faculty to create a positive learning environment and address the diverse needs of our student population. The School Counselor will provide mental health counseling, behavioral health support, and guidance in academic advising.
    Description:

    • Available September 1, 2025

    • 5 days per week
    • Hours: 8:20 – 2:40 p.m.

    Qualifications:

    • Earned Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • School Counselor or Social Worker certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education.
    • Valid New Jersey Motor Vehicle License w/Clean Driving Record.
    • Knowledge of a broad range of professional competencies related to school counseling.
    • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills needed to relate well with administration, teachers, support staff, students and members of the local community.
