Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Intermediate Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/20/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 20, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) position caring for ED boarding patients, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and at least one prior travel assignment. Details Work setting is a hospital Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), caring for admitted patients boarding in the ED while awaiting inpatient bed placement Patients present with varying diagnoses and require intermediate-level monitoring and care Patient ratio of 1:4-5 Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30) Every other weekend required Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity Charting is done in Cerner (experience required) Medication system is Pyxis Requirements Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted with proof of pending status provided at time of consideration, and license must be in hand prior to start date Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 2 years of RN experience required At least 1 prior travel assignment required Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on the lethal rhythms section Required skills: Cerner, telemetry monitoring and interpretation, dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, IV therapy and phlebotomy, IV insertion, heparin protocols, PCA, nasal cannula, and isolation precautions Preferred skills: cardiac telemetry, ER holding experience, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients Additional Information Responsible for assuming care of admitted patients with varying diagnoses while they board in the ED awaiting placement on an inpatient unit Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate — contact your recruiter for details Any color scrubs are acceptable 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration Any time-off or scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration American Traveler Job ID P-683753.
