Details Works in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital Patient population includes CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors and resections, seizures, TBIs, trauma (GSW, stabbings, MVCs), GI surgeries, and complex wound care Patient ratio is 1:3-4, with ratio of 1:5 only during emergencies Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30 Must be flexible with weekend requirements; travelers are expected to work 50% of weekends during their contract Floating is required and may include different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital Cerner EMR — experience required Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs Requirements Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or RQI accepted), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required Telemetry experience required Proficient neuro experience required Experience managing drips required Conscious sedation experience preferred Level 1 Trauma experience preferred Cerner charting experience required Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required IN RN license holders are not eligible for this position (compact license from another state is acceptable) Additional Information As a teaching facility, travelers must be willing to precept and/or have students shadow them during their assignment Travelers may be assigned charge nurse duties with training and resources provided as needed If a contracted shift is called out, the shift must be made up within the pay period or will be added to the end of the contract Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved Travelers must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays Former permanent or PRN employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler Local candidates are not accepted for this position First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-677223.
