Details Work in a 3N Medical Telemetry Renal Unit within a 207-licensed-bed, non-trauma, non-teaching hospital that is a designated Chest Pain and Stroke Center Patient population includes end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis (PD), fluid overload, sickle cell, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6 (up to 1:7–8 during critical surge) CNA support ratio is 1:6–12 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week Every other weekend rotation required No on-call or call-back requirements Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays Home unit assigned on the first day of orientation; floating is required to all units within scope at the facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned region — candidates who are not agreeable to regional floating should not apply EMR: Epic; IV Pump: Alaris; Medication Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips Requirements Active NC or Compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Required skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley insertion/management, PCA pumps) Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF required Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent employment position Additional Information Unit support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, a Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy, an IV/VAT Team (11 AM–7 PM and 11 PM–7 AM), a Resource Nurse (as staffing allows), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), and Hospitalist (24/7) Intensivist coverage is in-house until 11 PM Mon–Fri and until 7 PM Sat–Sun, with VCC coverage and on-call Intensivist after hours Orientation includes facility-level NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation Schedules are set on a 6-week cycle Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract Navy scrubs required Free parking available on-site Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered American Traveler Job ID P-684830.
