Details Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting Specializes in post-operative GI and wound care patients Patient diagnoses include pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions/perforation, wound infections, post-op infections, esophageal perforation, GSW, MVC, and diverticulitis Specialized procedures include pancreatectomy, esophagectomy, Whipple, splenectomy, adrenalectomy, cystectomy, colectomy, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hepatic resection, Nissen, bariatric surgery, TURP, gastrectomy, parathyroidectomy, and ex-lap Equipment used includes PEG, PEJ, PCA, peritoneal drains, JP drains, hemovac, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, and ostomy care (ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy) Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM 13-week contract Requirements Active LA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required Med/Surg and post-op unit experience required, with full-time post-op unit background At least one completed travel contract required for consideration Experience with surgical drains and ostomy care preferred Additional Information Candidates must reside 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process Upon assignment, the unit manager may designate you to an emergency response team, requiring you to remain on-site or serve on a relief team during emergency events Candidates who are not comfortable with emergency team obligations should not apply for roles with this health system American Traveler Job ID P-686359.
