Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital in Macon, GA, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience and an active GA or compact RN license. Details Work setting is a large acute care hospital (637 licensed beds) with Level 1 Trauma designation, teaching hospital status, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center Med/Surg Telemetry units with 20–36 beds per unit Patient population includes acute and chronic disease, common co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances), cardiac patients (post-cath, CHF, A-fib), and post-surgical patients (general, ortho, trauma) RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6 Telemetry skills required: monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, post-cath care, TR bands, and groin site management (no sheath pulls) Required drip management includes insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine (titration for HR, not BP) EMR: Epic (experience required) Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, and Nova Glucose Stat Strips 12-hour night shifts, 7P–7A, 36 hours per week Weekend rotation: 5–6 shifts per 6-week schedule No on-call or call-back requirements Float requirement: travelers are utilized in a float pool capacity and will float to all Med/Tele units as needed Requirements Active RN license — GA or compact license required BLS required; ACLS preferred (EKG competency exam required during onboarding) Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and drip titration Strong assessment, time management, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education skills Epic EMR experience required Med/Surg certification is a plus Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Unit support includes CNAs (vitals, glucose checks, patient care), a unit secretary (on-unit 7A–11P, house-wide after), charge nurse, central telemetry monitoring/tech, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Orientation includes 1 day of general facility orientation with educational modules, followed by 2 days of departmental orientation Holiday coverage: travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays, including one shift each of Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1 RTO requests must be submitted through and approved by the manager Scrub color for RNs is navy blue Free parking is available around campus Unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates who previously held a permanent position with an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies, and the same rate applies for local travelers American Traveler Job ID P-683091.
