Details Acute care Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) in a hospital setting with 30 beds Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, appendicitis, and cholecystitis Patient ratio is 1:6-7; candidates must be comfortable with a 1:7 ratio Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely by monitor techs Intermittent BiPAP is used; no ventilators on this unit Heparin drip titration based on aPTT results is required PCTs are available on the unit to support nursing staff One charge RN on the floor who also carries a patient assignment 12-hour night shifts; scheduling managed through Qgenda Weekends are scheduled as needed, typically every other weekend No on-call or standby requirements Travelers are first priority to float based on census Epic EMR is used on this unit 13-week contract Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Epic EMR experience required Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position A copy of an unexpired driver's license is required for consideration Any licensing hits (disciplinary actions or restrictions) must be disclosed at time of consideration Additional Information Provide medical/surgical nursing care to patients with a variety of acute conditions including respiratory, cardiac, and post-surgical diagnoses Navy blue scrubs are required Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before taking a 2-year break 2 references are required for consideration: at least 1 supervisor reference (from a permanent facility if worked within the last 12 months) and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN) Skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration American Traveler Job ID P-684824.
