Details 13-week travel contract in an acute care Labor & Delivery unit Unit consists of 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds, averaging 1–3 births per day (~830/year) Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required One on-call shift per 4-week schedule required May float to the ED or Med/Surg unit if experienced Nurses must be capable of functioning in both L&D and couplet care settings Charting performed in Allscripts EMR OB/Neonatologist is not in-house; 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy available on-site Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Secretary, and OB Scrub Tech Requirements Active AZ RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required C-section experience required High-risk OB experience required, including management of pre-eclampsia and OB emergencies Proficiency in fetal monitoring and appropriate clinical response to fetal distress required Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (or Advanced) Fetal Monitoring NIHSS certification also required BSN is not required Additional Information Nurses must be highly proficient in independent assessment and capable of managing OB emergencies prior to provider arrival, as OB/Neonatology is not in-house Couplet care responsibilities may be assigned when census is low Orientation is 8 hours and takes place every Monday Extensions are frequently approved at this facility American Traveler Job ID P-680847.
