About the Role
The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg floor delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care across a range of conditions and acuity levels. This role is responsible for assessing patients, administering medications and treatments, coordinating care plans with providers and care team, and accurately documenting all interventions. The RN utilizes strong clinical skills – including IV therapy, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and general medical-surgical procedures – while applying critical thinking and sound judgement to promote optimal patient outcomes. Success in this role requires effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care in alignment with organizational standards and values.

As a Staff RN, you make a direct impact by delivering safe, compassionate care that supports healing and improves patient outcomes. You ensure each patient receives attentive, coordinated treatment while advocating for their needs and comfort. Through your clinical expertise, teamwork, and communication, you help create a positive care experience for patients and their families every day.
Patient Assessment and Documentation
- Conducts comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychosocial, cultural, and discharge needs) using the nursing process.
- Reviews history, diagnostics, and lab results; communicates abnormalities to providers.
- Develops, implements, and updates individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Monitors patient progress and response to treatment; revises care plan as needed base on provider orders.
- Completes accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with policies and procedures.
Care Delivery and Coordination
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with provider orders, policies, and standards of practice.
- Coordinates, delegates, and supervises care activities to ensure safe, effective treatment.
- Promotes continuity of care through clear, timely communication with the healthcare team.
Teamwork and Customer Service
- Builds and maintains professional, respectful relationships with patients, families, and team members.
- Communicates effectively across diverse populations and care teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Current Kansas State RN License required.
- BLS required within 1 month of hire, ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.
- Knowledge of general nursing theory, practices, and clinical care standards.
- Ability to apply and adapt nursing practices to a variety of patient care needs.

Position Details
Schedule:
- Full-time RN’s are expected to work 36-40 hours per week. Rotating schedule includes weekends and holidays. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
- Part-time RN’s are expected to work 2 shifts per week, including one weekend per month and one major and minor holiday per year. Regular and punctual attendance is required
- PRN RN’s work shifts as they are able. No guaranteed hours. Punctual attendance is required.
Physical Requirements: Frequent use of hands and fingers, adequate visual ability, manual dexterity for gripping, handling, reaching, and manipulating objects. Frequent standing and walking, intermittent sitting. Occasional full body movement, stretching, reaching, bending. Frequently lifts/carries, pushes/pulls 5-25 pounds; occasionally 26-50 pounds; rarely up to 100 pounds. Occasional holding of 5-10 pounds; rare lifting over 11 pounds.
Equipment: Ability to operate equipment safely.
