Nursing Job-Posting Checklist for Healthcare Employers

Check every nursing job before it goes live

A complete posting helps candidates decide whether to apply and gives job-search platforms clearer information. Use this checklist for RN, LPN, CNA, advanced-practice, allied-health and healthcare-support roles.

Job identity

  • Use a standard, specific job title.
  • Include specialty, setting or shift only when helpful.
  • Remove internal requisition language from the title.
  • Confirm employment type.

Location and work arrangement

  • Provide complete city, state and address information required by the platform.
  • State whether work is onsite, hybrid, remote or field-based.
  • Do not label a clinical role remote if regular onsite care is required.
  • Explain travel territory for home-health, hospice or field roles.

Schedule

  • List shift and typical hours.
  • Explain weekend and holiday rotation.
  • State call, callback, floating and overtime expectations.
  • Identify whether the schedule is fixed, rotating or variable.

Compensation

  • Add a good-faith salary or hourly range where possible and where required by law.
  • Identify differentials separately from base pay.
  • Explain bonus eligibility and repayment terms.
  • Use consistent hourly, annual, per diem or contract units.

Responsibilities and qualifications

  • Describe the patient population and care setting.
  • Use five to eight role-specific responsibility bullets.
  • Confirm the correct license and jurisdiction.
  • Separate required and preferred experience.
  • List certifications only when relevant.

Candidate value

  • Describe orientation and clinical support accurately.
  • List benefits with eligibility details.
  • Include development, education or certification support.
  • Avoid unsupported claims about advancement or staffing.

Application experience

  • Test the application link on desktop and mobile.
  • Give a clear next step and communication timeline.
  • Use an accessible, concise application.
  • Provide appropriate equal-opportunity language.

Search and expiration

  • Use natural role and specialty terms.
  • Confirm a valid expiration date.
  • Remove or update the job promptly when filled.
  • Ensure imported jobs retain salary, location and source expiration.

Final approval questions

  1. Would a qualified nurse understand the role without contacting a recruiter?
  2. Does every claim match actual practice?
  3. Are salary, location, schedule and license requirements complete?
  4. Is the application working?
  5. Who owns candidate follow-up?
