Write a clearer healthcare job posting

Give candidates the details they need to take the next step.

01

Use a recognizable title

Lead with the actual role and level. Put the specialty and setting in the opening lines rather than using internal abbreviations or promotional titles.

02

State the practical details

Specify location, on-site or remote expectations, employment type, schedule, shift pattern and call or weekend requirements. Include accurate compensation and benefits information approved for publication.

03

Separate essentials from preferences

List the credentials, experience and skills needed to perform this role, followed by genuinely optional preferences. Avoid presenting every desirable qualification as a requirement.

04

Explain the work and support

Describe responsibilities, patient population, team structure, orientation and available development. Use approved, factual descriptions rather than promises your organization cannot support.

05

Make applying straightforward

Provide one clear application route, explain requested documents and outline next steps. Test the application on a phone and remove duplicate questions where possible.

06

Posting outline

Job title → location and schedule → role summary → responsibilities → required qualifications → preferred qualifications → compensation and benefits → application instructions.
