Details Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting Patient population includes chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, and syncope Potential for med/surg overflow including GI bleed, sepsis, CVA, and COVID patients Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, post-op CABG, post-op thoracotomy, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), AAA repair, and sheath pulling at bedside Titration of cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and Heparin Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM Floating to all other inpatient units is required Every other holiday coverage required Specific scheduling requests (e.g., block scheduling) cannot be accommodated Requirements Active LA or Compact RN license currently in hand Current BLS certification (AHA required) Telemetry experience including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Experience with post-MI, post-cath, and cardiac surgery patients Proficiency in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips Skills required: port access, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, IV insertion, wound care/wound vac, and chest tube management Must reside 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position Additional Information All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) Requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign travelers to an Emergency Team with expectations to remain at the facility or serve on a relief team during emergency events; candidates uncomfortable with this requirement should not apply 8-week contract American Traveler Job ID P-681689.
