Job Details Location: Tuscaloosa, AL — 809 University Blvd E (zip 35401) Role: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry / Tele RN / Renal Nurse Setting: Renal Unit (36-bed unit) — dialysis and telemetry care Employment Type: Travel Contract (travel nursing position) Start / End Dates: April 13, 2026 – July 12, 2026 (13 weeks) Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00–07:00), every other weekend, holidays as required Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed (option for up to 48 hours) Patient Ratio: 1:6 EMR: Meditech Scrub Colors: Solid navy Parking: Available Estimated Weekly Pay: $1840–$1940 per week Qualifications / Job Requirements Associate Degree in Nursing required (ADN) Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama OR valid multistate Compact RN license (no temporary licenses accepted) AHA BLS (or Red Cross equivalent) required Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience (Telemetry RN experience required) 18 months overall RN experience preferred Ability and willingness to float to other units and hospitals as needed Experience with renal patients, dialysis, or renal replacement therapy is a plus for renal nurse roles Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, including those requiring renal replacement therapy Deliver post-hemodialysis and ongoing peritoneal dialysis care following unit protocols Monitor telemetry rhythms, manage cardiac and renal-related changes, and escalate concerns appropriately Collaborate with nephrologists, family practice providers, hospitalists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech EMR and adhere to unit policies and safety protocols Support patients through diagnosis, treatment planning, and education about dialysis and renal care Float to other units and hospitals as required and work scheduled weekends/holidays Benefits & Perks Travel nursing experience in a supportive renal/telemetry unit within Tuscaloosa healthcare 36 guaranteed hours with opportunity for additional shifts (up to 48 hours/week) Parking available and Meditech EMR experience opportunity Opportunity to grow skills in nephrology care, dialysis, and telemetry nursing Experience Tuscaloosa’s charm and grow your career in travel nursing and Alabama nursing jobs as a Med/Surg Tele RN caring for renal patients.
