Must have an active RN license and recent Med/Surg experience to join this 13-week travel nursing job in the Texas Hill Country. Job Details Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,730 - $1,820 per week Location: Kerrville, TX 78028 (Texas Hill Country; ~1 hour from San Antonio) Position: Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN), Night Shift, Travel Nurse Setting: 2 West Med Surg Unit (36 beds) – acute care hospital Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026) Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (18:45 – 07:15) Hours per Week: 36 Patient Ratio: 1:5 (typical Med/Surg nursing ratios) Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule Floating: May be required to float to 3W and other units as needed Facility Housing: Available Notes: Previous travel nursing experience required; local candidates within 50 miles not accepted Job Requirements / Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand) BLS certification (AHA required) Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing (Med-Surg RN) experience in an acute care setting Previous travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers) Charting system experience required (electronic health record / EHR) Preferred certifications: ACLS, PALS, CPI COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions allowed) Ability and willingness to float to other units as needed to support clinical staffing Must be available to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays if assignment overlaps Responsibilities – Med/Surg RN / Travel Nurse Duties Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical unit Manage an assigned patient load (typically 5 per shift) ensuring safety, accurate assessments, and positive outcomes Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products per hospital policy Perform clinical assessments, wound care, and management of central and peripheral lines, surgical drains, and chest tubes Provide care for patients on BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen therapy, feeding tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) Document patient care accurately in the charting system (EHR) and communicate changes in patient condition Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and vascular access/IV teams Participate in rapid response/code teams and adhere to isolation/PPE protocols Float to other units as required to support staffing and patient care needs Experience the charm of Kerrville and the Texas Hill Country while advancing your travel nursing career with a supportive team and strong clinical collaboration.
