Details Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a large academic teaching hospital environment Cardiovascular-focused unit caring for patients with diagnoses including congestive heart failure, post-MI, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, COPD, congenital heart defects, and infective endocarditis Cares for patients post-cath lab procedures, pre-LVAD placements, and pre-heart/lung transplants Patient ratio of 1:4 Required skills include cardiac PCU care, IV drips, post-cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls Telemetry and conscious sedation experience preferred Cerner EMR required Day shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM Must be flexible with weekend requirements; travelers are expected to work 50% of weekends during their contract Floating may be required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby Requirements Active IN or Compact RN license required Current BLS (AHA or RQI accepted); ACLS preferred Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required Level I Trauma experience required Cerner EMR experience required Cardiac PCU experience required, including drips, post-cath lab care, IV starts, and sheath pulls Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution required Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of IU Health within the past 12 months Additional Information This is an academic teaching facility; travelers must be willing to precept or have students shadow them during their assignment Charge nurse responsibilities may be required based on operational needs, with training and resources provided Travelers may float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays Local candidates are not accepted for this PCU position Indiana-licensed (non-compact) RNs are not eligible for this position; IN RN license exemptions apply only to Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-686310.
