Details 24-bed Intermediate Care Unit (PCU/IMC/Stepdown) within a 456-bed tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, 5-time Magnet-designated teaching hospital Intermediate medical and surgical overflow patients, including TURP, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair, eye surgery, oral surgery, diabetic teaching, and wound care Patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6 Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15) 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) No on-call requirements Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required Charting via Epic Navy scrubs required Free parking available Requirements Active MO or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration; both Kansas and Missouri licenses required due to potential floating between facilities Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no gap in employment greater than 90 days in the past year Required skills: cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, rapid response team utilization, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, port access, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, peripheral IV insertion, heparin protocols, PCA management, CVA care, oxygen delivery (nasal cannula, face mask, portable tank), wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions Preferred skills: insulin drip titration, renal failure management, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drain management, tracheostomy management, and eye surgery experience 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year SSN required for consideration Additional Information Fast-paced unit serving as a key throughput unit for both the ED and OR Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage required as needed RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract First-time travelers are not accepted for this position Travel partners are not accepted Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible Pre-employment drug screening is required; a diluted or positive result that cannot be cleared will result in assignment cancellation, with a 6-month waiting period before reapplication Onboarding compliance modules are required and must be completed prior to the start date American Traveler Job ID P-685833.
