Opportunity: RN - PCU Job Details: • Work on 4Heart, Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) unit with 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds • Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN • Care for primary patient population including CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies) • Also receive overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block • Perform typical procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management • Manage various cardiac drips (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine) • Use Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts, and Cerner EMR system • Required certifications: ACLS and BLS • Must have stepdown experience and telemetry experience • Preferred: Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within a year or CVICU experience • Float to any stepdown (1:5 ratios), medical-surgical (1:6-7 ratios) units, or ER inpatient holding area (1:6) • Weekend requirements: minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6 week schedule period • No on-call requirements • Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs • Must be team player, enjoy fast-paced environment, and be flexible Facility: This flagship hospital is licensed for 815 beds and has been recognized as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals from 2020-2023, identifying it as part of the top 1% of hospitals in the nation for clinical quality.
