Details Inpatient overflow unit with a mixed level of care, including medical-surgical and step-down patients Specializes in short-stay patients with a length of stay under 24 hours, resulting in high patient turnover 20-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:5, with potential stretch to 1:6 depending on level of care All patients requiring telemetry monitoring are hardwired to bedside monitors EMR: Cerner Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts) Every other weekend required; no on-call responsibilities Travelers may be required to float to other units as needed 13-week contract Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start) Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care or PCU experience required Telemetry competency required Cerner EMR experience preferred US Social Security Number (SSN) and date of birth (DOB) required for consideration; no Canadian SSNs accepted One professional reference required No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months Additional Information Unit staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 2 CNAs per shift Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible Navy and/or white top with navy bottom scrubs required; all-white attire also accepted Ideal candidates are positive, patient-experience focused, compassionate, and strong team players Recent progressive care experience is preferred and will be prioritized during consideration American Traveler Job ID P-675219.
