Details Acute care, 40-bed stepdown Progressive Care Unit Adult patient population with cardiac, med/surg, renal failure, vascular, sepsis, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer, and cancer diagnosis cases Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on both day and night shifts 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required RNs titrate drips such as heparin, nitro, dopamine, cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin RNs read and interpret their own telemetry strips Equipment includes high flow oxygen, overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners Uses Epic EMR Floating required to MedSurg or ICU to care for PCU-acuity patients Requirements Active NE or Compact RN license required at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or stepdown experience Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (no pending certifications accepted) Competency with arterial lines required Must pass an open-book skills exam with at least 90% during orientation Must provide a copy of a valid driver’s license for radius determination Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility At least two professional references: one from a recent supervisor (last 12 months) and another from a peer or supervisor (last 3 years) Additional Information Holiday coverage required for at least two holidays falling within the contract Scrub color is navy blue Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff Orientation consists of one 12-hour unit-specific shift Patient care tech ratios are 1:12; unit has charge nurses on every shift Unit values flexibility, strong communication, and adaptability Serves a culturally diverse patient population, primarily Hispanic and Somalian Maximum of 7 days requested time off (RTO) permitted per 13-week contract, all requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission First-time travelers not specified American Traveler Job ID P-667091.
