Details Mixed-acuity PCU and Med-Surg surgical oncology unit in a hospital setting Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses spanning surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary cancers (liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract, neuroendocrine), colorectal cancers, and plastics/reconstructive cases Nurse-to-patient ratio goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on unit needs Rotating day/night schedule (D/N) — shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period and may include days, nights, or a combination based on staffing needs Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling Night shift: 7p–7:30a, 3x12-hour shifts per week Special procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, management of oncologic emergencies and cytokine release syndrome, insulin drips, and heparin drips Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention Charting is performed in Epic (experience required) Requirements Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of RN experience required PCU or surgical oncology nursing experience strongly applicable to this role Epic EMR experience required Additional Information ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred but not required Orientation consists of one week of Mon–Fri day shift training followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor Candidates may submit self-schedule requests prior to the unit finalizing and posting the schedule each period Travelers who have previously worked at OSU Wexner Medical Center do not require a 30-day break between assignments to change representation First-time travelers are welcome to apply 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration All RTO/scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration American Traveler Job ID P-681342.
