Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/30/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Mar 30, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 10 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology position requiring at least 1 year of PCU and oncology experience, with night shift availability at a Level 1 Trauma facility in Nebraska. Details Acute care setting on a mixed PCU, Oncology, and Med-Surg unit at a Level 1 Trauma facility 28-bed unit serving adult oncology and trauma patient populations PCU nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 during days and 1:5-6 during nights; Med-Surg ratio is 1:5 Common diagnoses include oncology (from diagnosis through remission or end-of-life) and trauma Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may be required to titrate insulin and cardizem drips Hemodynamic monitoring equipment in use includes CVP, A-line, Swan, and EV-1000; ventilators and ICP monitoring also present (training available) Alaris IV pumps used on the unit Charting via Epic; recent Epic experience (within 6 months) is helpful but not required 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a) Every other weekend required Self-scheduling available Floating required to same level of care (Med-Surg and PCU units) Requirements Active NE state RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted Minimum 1 year of PCU and oncology nursing experience required Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS, and ONS/ONCC; all must be active at time of consideration — pending certifications not accepted Chemo certification preferred but not required Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address) Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Copy of driver's license required for consideration Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas Additional Information Navy blue scrubs required Unit support includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietician Orientation is 2 days, with a pass/fail open-book exam on the final day of orientation requiring a minimum score of 90% to continue the assignment RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities may still be considered American Traveler Job ID P-679580.
