Job Details Position: PCU Registered Nurse (RN) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Travel Nurse Location: Wichita Falls, TX 76301 (Wichita County) Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026) Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:00 – 19:00) Schedule: Alternating 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts per week (84 hours biweekly with 72-hour guarantee) Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Travel Contract Unit: PCU Float (supporting PCU, overflow, ED holds, step-down and acute care as needed) Estimated Weekly Pay: $1820 - $1910 per week Top Candidate Summary Ideal PCU RN (Progressive Care/step-down nurse) with a minimum of 2 years PCU or acute care experience, travel nursing background preferred, strong assessment and critical care skills, and EPIC charting experience. This role is part of the Wichita Falls healthcare team and supports high-quality patient care across units. Job Requirements Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN or relevant acute care experience strongly preferred Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas (license in-hand required before start) ACLS and BLS certifications required NIHSS certification required EPIC charting experience preferred Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered) Must be agreeable to 36/48 alternate schedule Clinicians must be available to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance Modules completed during orientation (average 2-3 hours) Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients and float to overflow units and Emergency Department holds as needed Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with hospital policies and critical care standards Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapists, case management) to ensure optimal patient outcomes Document patient care accurately using EPIC (preferred) or other electronic medical record systems Perform clinical procedures and monitor patients for changes in acuity common to step-down and PCU settings Participate in orientation, complete required training modules, and maintain compliance with facility and regulatory requirements Why Join This Travel Nurse Role?
