Job Description & Requirements Specialty: OR - Operating Room Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/30/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 5x8hrs Hours: 40 hrs/wk Start Date: Mar 30, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a 176-bed acute care hospital in Montgomery, AL, requiring strong robotic surgery experience and proficiency across general, GYN, urology, and vascular specialties. Details Work in a surgical department featuring 6 ORs and 1 Cysto Room, with Central Sterile decontamination and clean/autoclave capabilities Patient types include General, GYN, Urology, Vascular, Ortho, Podiatry, ENT, Robotics (Gen/GYN/Uro), and Pediatric Dental (preferred but not required) 1:1 patient ratio Shift options include 5x8 (0630–1500), 4x10 (0630–1700 or 1100–2130), and 3x12 (0630–1900, Friday–Sunday) All standard shifts run Monday–Friday; 3x12 shifts are weekend-based (Friday–Sunday) On-call required one weeknight per week (3:00 PM – 6:30 AM) On-call required one weekend day (24 hours) per month Holiday call required if a holiday falls within the contract period, not to exceed once per 26-week period Floating is limited to within the department (Holding Room only) EMR: Cerner (Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Spacelabs monitors) 40-hour work week, day shift starting at 6:30 AM Requirements Active AL RN license or compact RN license required Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of OR/circulator experience required Strong robotic surgery experience required Core specialty experience in General, GYN, Urology, and Vascular required Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible Former permanent staff must have a 6-month separation period before being considered as a traveler Required documents for consideration: 1 reference from a charge nurse or above (within the past 12 months), copy of certifications, date of birth (day and month), and Social Security Number Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome with at least 2 years of pertinent OR experience; prior non-travel experience is preferred before transitioning to travel Perform circulator duties across a range of surgical specialties including robotics-assisted procedures Unit support includes 4 Team Leaders, 3 Materials staff, and OR Assistants Orientation typically consists of 2–3 shifts, with evaluation to ensure readiness for call shifts Block scheduling requests (e.g., every Friday or Monday off) cannot generally be accommodated, though the facility tries to allow some longer weekends for travel home during the contract RTO requests must be approved by the manager Scrubs are provided by the facility Free parking available at the back of the hospital An interview is required prior to any offer being extended American Traveler Job ID P-683686.
