Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (Outpatient Surgery) Job Type: Contract Position Urgency: Normal Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to support outpatient surgical services in a fast-paced perioperative environment. The RN will provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures while collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to ensure safe and efficient surgical outcomes. This role may also require floating to the main operating room when needed. Key Responsibilities Provide perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. Perform duties as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse during surgical procedures as required. Prepare the operating room by ensuring sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and properly arranged. Monitor patient status throughout the surgical process and respond to changes in patient condition. Maintain a sterile environment and ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols. Document patient care, surgical procedures, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record system . Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and nursing staff to support efficient operating room workflow. Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient education and care. Float to other operating room areas when needed to support patient care demands. Work Schedule Day shift with 8-hour shifts Varied start times depending on surgical schedule Occasional weekend coverage may be required Holiday coverage may be required Minimum Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California Minimum of 2 years of recent Operating Room experience Prior experience in perioperative nursing, circulating, and/or scrub roles Experience using EPIC electronic medical record system required Previous successful completion of travel assignments preferred Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative patient care Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification required ACLS preferred PALS preferred Specialty Perioperative Nursing Subspecialties: Operating Room Circulation, Scrub, and Perioperative Care This role is ideal for an experienced operating room nurse who thrives in a collaborative surgical environment and is committed to delivering safe, high-quality care to patients undergoing outpatient procedures.
