As a Trauma Level II facility, the Main OR handles a fast-paced volume of emergency cases, including motor vehicle accidents (MVA), gunshot wounds, and acute surgical crises. This role requires a versatile circulator capable of transitioning between complex neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma, and advanced robotic cases under the pressure of night-shift emergency management. Key Responsibilities Trauma & Emergency Management: Lead the nursing care for high-acuity trauma cases (GSR, stabbings, orthopedic fractures). Surgical Specialties: Circulate for a wide array of procedures including Craniotomies, Spinal Fusions (ALIF/Cervical), Total Joint Replacements, and Bariatric surgeries. Robotics Proficiency: Operate and assist with the Da Vinci Xi and Mako Surgical Systems for urologic, colorectal, and orthopedic robotic procedures. Patient Safety & Universal Protocol: Execute "Time Out" procedures, ensure surgical site verification, and maintain strict adherence to laser and fire safety protocols. Critical Care Intervention: Monitor patients under conscious sedation and respond to intraoperative emergencies, including Malignant Hyperthermia protocols. Equipment Mastery: Manage specialized OR equipment such as Electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and the Hana Table for anterior hip replacements. Requirements & Qualifications Experience: Minimum 5 years of OR experience is required (may consider slightly less for candidates with exceptional trauma and robotics backgrounds). Trauma Level: Experience in a Level II Trauma Center is required. EMR: Epic experience is required. Licensure: Active Texas (TX) RN License or Compact License in-hand at submittal. Certifications: * BLS (AHA) – Required. ACLS & PALS – Highly Preferred. Compliance: Must be able to complete all labs/credentials within 72 hours of an offer. Unit & Facility Details Unit: Main OR. Setting: Fast-paced regional referral center. Location: San Angelo, TX 76903. Call Requirement: Yes; weekend and holiday call rotations are required.
