Details 12-hour night shifts, 7P–7A, 36 hours per week Large hospital setting with 637 licensed beds, Level 1 Trauma designation, and teaching hospital status; also a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center Med/Surg Telemetry units ranging from 20–36 beds per unit Patient population includes acute and chronic medical conditions, common co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances), cardiac patients (post-cath, CHF, A-fib), and post-surgical patients (general, ortho, trauma) RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6 Telemetry skills required: cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation, post-cath care, TR bands, and post-cath groin site management (no sheath pulls) Required drip management includes: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine; titration for HR only (not BP) Required to float to all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the facility Weekend rotation of 5–6 shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle No on-call or call-back requirements EMR: Epic (experience preferred) IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitors: Philips; vital signs: VS3 monitors Requirements Active GA RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand BLS certification required; ACLS preferred Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, and cardiac rhythm interpretation Strong assessment, time management, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education skills Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Candidates will complete an EKG competency exam during onboarding; ACLS certification will be required at that time if not already held Orientation consists of 1 day of general facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation Support staff includes CNAs, a unit secretary (on-unit 7A–11P, house-wide after), charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge and resource nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists — all available 24/7 where applicable; central telemetry monitoring is also available Holiday coverage expected for one shift of each major holiday: Thanksgiving Day or the day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1 RTO requests must be approved by the unit manager RN scrub color is navy blue Free parking is available around campus Unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies; the same rate is offered regardless of distance from the facility American Traveler Job ID P-682919.
