Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 12 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel RN – ER I – Meriden, CT Contract Duration: 12 Weeks (04/06/2026 – 07/04/2026) Shift: Night Shift (NOC) | 19:00 – 07:30 (3x12-Hour Shifts, 36 Hours/Week) Position Status: Open (1 Position Available) Job Summary: A 156-bed acute care facility is seeking a high-performing Emergency Room RN for a 12-week night assignment. This ED is a high-volume environment (averaging 150 visits per day ) and is a designated Primary Stroke Center . You will care for a diverse patient population, ranging from critical trauma stabilization to specialized geriatric care in their innovative Senior Emergency Care unit. Key Responsibilities Acute Stabilization: Provide rapid assessment and life-saving interventions for high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment. Stroke & Neuro Care: Implement protocols for acute ischemic stroke, utilizing your NIHSS expertise to conduct frequent, precise neurological assessments. Specialized Geriatric Care: Utilize "Senior-Friendly" protocols, including fall risk assessments and medication reviews tailored for patients aged 65. Behavioral Health Integration: Collaborate with the dedicated Acute Behavioral Health Unit to manage psychiatric emergencies safely and compassionately. Tertiary Coordination: Coordinate with the on-site LIFE STAR critical care helicopter team for the rapid transport of tertiary-level trauma patients to Hartford Hospital (Level 1 Trauma). Documentation: Ensure meticulous real-time charting using the Epic ASAP module. Requirements & Qualifications Experience: * Minimum 2 years of dedicated Emergency Department experience. Experience in an ED with high volume (>150 visits/day) is required. Technical Skills: Must have used the Epic ASAP module within the last 6 months . Certifications: * NIHSS: Only the ONE-YEAR certification is accepted (two-year certs will be rejected). BLS & ACLS (AHA) – Required. Licensure: Active Connecticut (CT) RN License . Availability: * Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Maximum of 2 weeks RTO (Requested Time Off) will be considered. Unit & Facility Details Facility Type: Acute Care Community Hospital (Hartford HealthCare). ED Volume: ~53,000 annual visits (High Volume). Trauma Level: N/A (Stabilization and transport via LIFE STAR). Special Features: Senior Emergency Care Services and a separate Acute Behavioral Health Unit. On-Call: No call requirements for this position. Financial & Logistics Notes Schedule: Fixed 36-hour weekly schedule (Nights). Meal Duration: 30 minutes. Location: Meriden, CT 06451.
