Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVICU Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/27/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Internal Job Description 50 mile radius rule - ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST INCLUDE A COPY OF CANDIDATE'S UNEXPIRED DRIVER'S LICENSE CVICU Beds 18- Mixed acuity with Step Down and ICU status patients Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:1 fresh hearts & devices, 1:2 ICU status patients, 1:3 step down status patients Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients Atrial fibrillation, Heart blocks, Bradycardia, NSTEMI, STEMI, Cardiac Arrest, Hyper/Hypotension, Pulmonary Embolisms, Cardiogenic Shock, Heart Surgery (CABG/Valves), Heart Failure, Thoracic Surgery (VATS, Lobectomy, etc) Please list out common patients/diagnosis seen on the unit Experience or 'Must have' skills • Prefer fresh open heart experience, but must have experience at least with >6 hr post op open heart patients. • Must have CRRT experience • Must have Temporary Pacemakers & Post Perm. Pacer experience • Must have Acute MI- Pre/post cath experience • Must have Mediastinal/Chest tubes experience • Must have Ventilator experience • Must have Hypothermia Protocol experience • Must have experience with the drips below • Must have Arterial Line experience • Prefer IABP/ Impella experience • Prefer Hemodynamic Monitoring/Swan-Ganz experience EX: Must have experience with IABP, CRRT, Fresh open hearts from the OR Impella experience desired Are RNs required to titrate drips? yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips Cardizem, Cordarone, Cardene, Nitroglycerin, Esmolol, Cleviprex, Milrinone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Bumex, Epinephrine, Levophed, Vasopressin, Insulin, Heparin, Aggrastat, Precedex, Propofol, Versed, Fentanyl Please list common drips out Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Rare potential to work charge on night shift. Night shift charge nurses take assignments. Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Yes. 1-2 PCTs per shift Hospitalist or Intensivist in house Yes RT in ICU 24/7 Yes RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Vent, Trach-vent, bipap, cpap, hiflow, trilogy Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Monitors are watched by monitor techs off unit, but alarms are addressed by our RNs. Our RNs read their own strips q4. Philips monitors. Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Self- scheduling and block scheduling requests allowed and often granted, but during schedule balance period, requests can be changed to fill the needs of the unit. Weekend Requirements Every other weekend Holiday Requirements As needed to fill the needs of the unit Is there a call or standby requirement? No Floating Requirements Travelers float first. Float mainly to ACU and ICU, but can be floated to Med-Surg & Tele with max of 6 patients. Scrub Color/Dress Code Royal Blue Scrubs. Unit/Department specific orientation 1 week orientation including modules, epic training, and orienting with unit RN.
