Job Details Location: Leonardtown, MD 20650 (Southern Maryland, St. Marys County) Assignment Type: Travel Contract – Travel nursing job Start Date: March 30, 2026 End Date: June 29, 2026 Duration: 13 weeks Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710 – $1,800 Hours per Week: 36 Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 07:00–19:30; Night: 18:45–07:15), 3 shifts per week Orientation: 24 hours Openings: 3 Travel RN positions available Patient Population: Adults Unit Size: 15 beds; average daily census: 15 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (as directed by unit needs) Floating: Required to Telemetry and Med-Surg as needed (ratios 1:5 / 1:6) Call Requirement: None Required Qualifications Experience: Minimum 2 years recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care (IMC), or Stepdown experience Licensure: Active RN license (Maryland or compact state) – travel nursing license acceptable Certifications: BLS and ACLS required EKG Competency: Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms) Clinical Skills: Telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV starts/maintenance, central/peripheral line care Advanced Therapies: BiPAP/CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), PCA management, chest tube care, pre/post hemodialysis support, oxygen therapy Protocols: IV insulin protocols, heparin and other anticoagulation protocols, non-titratable cardiac drips Additional Requirements: Feeding tube care, isolation/PPE adherence, ability to float to Telemetry and Med-Surg Preferred: Previous charge nurse, community hospital, LTAC, or trauma experience First-time travelers: Accepted Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions) Responsibilities Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a Cardiac Stepdown/IMC environment Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms; recognize and escalate acute changes in condition Administer medications and IV therapies, including protocol-driven anticoagulation and insulin management Operate and manage specialty equipment: bedside monitors, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, chest tubes, PCA, and non-titratable drips Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response, Phlebotomy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary Float to Telemetry and Med-Surg units as needed, maintaining accurate documentation and patient safety Complete orientation and facility/unit-specific modules within the required timeframe Follow infection control policies, safety protocols, and patient privacy requirements Why Join This Travel Nursing Opportunity Gain progressive care and telemetry experience at a community hospital in Southern Maryland Work with a collaborative team committed to clinical excellence and professional development Explore Leonardtown and the Chesapeake Bay region while advancing your travel nursing career Apply now to join our team as a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown/IMC in Leonardtown, MD.
