Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/13/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 13, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of experience, BLS and NIHSS certifications, and night shift availability. Details Acute care hospital setting, Level 1 Trauma Center, on the Med/Surg Neuro unit (4th Floor North) 25-bed unit serving neurological and general med/surg patients, including strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery, joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6; CNAs/PCTs available at a 1:10-20 ratio Telemetry monitoring with dedicated tele techs for interpretation; RNs are expected to have baseline tele awareness RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; PCA pumps also in use Charge nurse present on each shift and carries an assignment 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700); travelers are scheduled by the unit with limited block scheduling available Every other weekend required 2–3 holidays required between Thanksgiving and New Year's Floating required to other medical/surgical areas or units housing med/surg overflow patients EMR: Epic 13-week contract Requirements Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Active BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Med/Surg and/or Neuro telemetry experience required Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license will be used to verify permanent address Cannot be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Valid driver's license required Additional Information Unit has a strong focus on hourly rounding, patient responsiveness, and managing high volumes of admissions and discharges daily Serves a diverse patient population, including Spanish-, Karen-, and Burmese-speaking patients Mechanical lifts available in every other room 2-day unit-specific orientation; a pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on the Friday of orientation with a minimum passing score of 90% Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination Navy blue scrubs required Travel experience is preferred but strong candidates without travel experience will be considered Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities may still be considered American Traveler Job ID P-681914.
