Details Work setting is a hospital Medical/Surgical unit specializing in orthopedic and neuro patient populations 35-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio Telemetry is monitored centrally rather than at the bedside Patient Care Technicians and Patient Transporters are available on the unit A house discharge nurse floats across all departments Floating required to units of equal or lesser acuity Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30 Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis Epic EMR used; experience within the last 6 months required Requirements Active TX or Compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Minimum 1 year of RN experience required Recent Epic experience within the last 6 months required Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO during the first week of orientation Travel pairs or groups will not be accepted Scrubs may be any color, but logos are not permitted Free covered parking available on-site Discounted meals and nearby hotel options available for travelers American Traveler Job ID P-684121.
