Job Details Position: Travel Nurse / Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Surgical Step-Down Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus healthcare jobs, Ohio travel nurse) Setting: Surgical Progressive Care Unit (Step-Down) – Telemetry-capable Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026) Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30) Hours per Week: 36 Estimated Weekly Pay: $1940-$2040 Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics, Post-surgical patients Unit Ratios: Progressive Care RN ratio 3-4:1 (all attempts to maintain 3:1) Weekend Coverage: Required Orientation: 24 hours Job Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – compact license accepted or Ohio state license in hand at submission Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Step-Down or Telemetry RN experience (progressive care experience preferred) Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program BLS and ACLS certifications required IV certification required; experience with central/PICC/peripheral line care Must be able to pass a telemetry competency test and have experience monitoring telemetry patients (cardiac rhythm interpretation/dysrhythmia management) EPIC electronic medical record experience required Two professional references (one must be from a manager, director, or formal leader) Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only) Responsibilities Provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics in a surgical step-down/progressive care environment Monitor and interpret telemetry, recognize and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response/code teams Start and maintain IVs, administer medications, and manage central/PICC/peripheral lines Perform phlebotomy, wound care, and manage surgical drains and oxygen therapy Provide patient and family education on post-surgical care, recovery, and discharge planning Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services Float to other units as needed to support patient care and staffing Document all care accurately and efficiently using the EPIC electronic medical record system Why Columbus?
