Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 05/18/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: May 18, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg assignment at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and a ND or compact RN license. Details Work in the Med/Surg unit of a Critical Access Hospital with 20 beds Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, with every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation required Patient ratio is typically 1 nurse to 5 patients Common diagnoses include falls, CHF, bowel obstruction, atrial fibrillation, and swing bed patients Float to ER as needed, though not the first to float Utilizes Mindray monitors with RNs responsible for reading and documenting telemetry strips EMR system used is MEDITECH Block scheduling may be available depending on staffing needs Requirements Active ND or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of submission Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience required Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS; TNCC preferred for ER experience Must be skilled and confident in patient assessment, infusion pumps, medication administration, and respiratory therapy equipment management Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years Copy of driver's license must be provided for consideration Additional Information RNs are responsible for titrating drips such as insulin, heparin, and levophed, as well as administering set rate drips like amiodarone Expected to manage respiratory treatments including use of Hamilton C1 ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen The environment encourages teamwork with support from CNAs, PCTs, and a charge nurse present 24/7 (no patient assignment for charge) Orientation ranges 3–6 shifts based on staff availability First-time travelers are welcome to apply No specific scrub color required Holiday coverage is included in rotation Experience in critical access settings is appreciated but not required Recent former employees of health systems associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI, are not eligible if employed within the past year American Traveler Job ID P-672939.
