Job Details Estimated Weekly Salary: $1710 - $1800 Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Oncology (Night Shift) — Travel RN / Contract RN Location: Wilmington, North Carolina (28401) — Wilmington healthcare jobs / North Carolina nursing jobs Start Date: April 13, 2026 End Date: July 13, 2026 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Employment Type: Travel/Contract RN — travel nursing assignment Setting: Inpatient, Medical-Surgical Oncology Unit (42 beds) — inpatient oncology RN, medical-surgical RN Shift: Nights, 3 x 12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15) Hours per Week: 36 Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Call Requirement: Required if called off on a prescheduled shift Float Requirement: Required to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations (e.g., inpatient holding in the ED) Orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts) Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics Typical Nurse:Patient Ratio: 1:6 (may be higher during increased census) Unit Systems: EPIC (documentation), PYXIS (medication), SBAR (communication) Scrubs: Navy blue and white Job Requirements Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient RN experience (medical-surgical required); med-surg oncology experience preferred License: NC or Compact RN license (pending OK for submission; required in hand at start) Certifications: BLS (AHA) required; ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification required Chemo Skills: Must be able to safely administer chemotherapy/biotherapy (IV, PO, injection) — chemotherapy-certified RN / oncology nurse skills Clinical Skills: Med/Surg skills including colostomy care, port/central line management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral/PICC care, heparin and insulin administration, surgical drains and chest tube care, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound VAC, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management Testing: Must pass EKG testing prior to start Preferred: CPI, charge nurse experience, OCN Traveler Experience: First-time travelers accepted — ideal for travel nurse candidates seeking night shift nursing jobs and inpatient oncology RN roles Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical patients with oncology diagnoses, including those receiving chemotherapy/biotherapy Administer and monitor chemotherapy/biotherapy per protocol and assess for adverse reactions; follow medication safety workflows using PYXIS Manage vascular access devices (ports, central lines, PICCs), perform blood draws, and provide wound care Monitor and manage patients with acute and chronic conditions such as AKI, sepsis, septic shock, DKA (insulin drips), ARF, encephalopathy, failure to thrive, diabetic foot ulcers, and heparin drips Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries Float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations as needed based on census and staffing Participate in monthly staff meetings and required storm/hurricane team assignments Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EPIC and adhere to medication safety workflows using PYXIS Apply now to join a compassionate, expert travel nursing team in Wilmington, NC.
