Details Hospital-based mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator-dependent patients Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Every other weekend required No on-call requirement No floating required 13-week contract Requirements Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand BLS certification from AHA required ACLS certification from AHA required Minimum 1 year of experience in a critical care setting Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate SSN required for consideration Additional Information Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation Administers medications and treatments per protocol while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers All newly hired RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed for both organizational entry and Critical Care Department-specific requirements BSN is preferred but not required New graduates will be considered for this position Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility American Traveler Job ID P-684678.
