Details Acute care hospital Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) with 30 beds Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, cholecystitis, and appendicitis Patient ratio of 1:6-7; candidates must be comfortable with a ratio of up to 1:7 Telemetry is available on the unit and monitored remotely by monitor techs Intermittent BiPAP used; no ventilators on the unit RNs are required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results PCTs are available on the unit to support nursing staff One charge RN is on the floor and also carries a patient assignment 12-hour day/night rotating shifts, with weekends scheduled as needed (typically every other weekend) No on-call or standby requirement Travelers are the first to float based on census EMR: Epic 13-week contract Requirements Active WV or Compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Comfortable with patient ratios up to 1:7 Experience with Epic EMR Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position A copy of an unexpired driver's license is required for consideration Any licensing history (hits) must be disclosed upfront Additional Information Scheduling is transitioning to the Qgenda platform Navy blue scrubs required Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying; cumulative time worked within the WVU system also applies — travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for more than one year total without a 2-year break Two professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN) Skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration Copies of all relevant certifications are required for consideration American Traveler Job ID P-682453.
