Details 12-hour night shifts, 7P–7A, 36 hours per week Large hospital setting with 637 licensed beds, Level 1 Trauma designation, academic teaching status, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center Med/Surg Telemetry units with 20–36 beds per unit; travelers are placed in a float pool capacity and may float to any Med/Tele unit in the facility Patient population includes acute and chronic medical-surgical patients with common comorbidities (diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances), cardiac patients (post-cath, CHF, a-fib), and post-surgical patients (general, ortho, trauma) RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6 Telemetry monitoring is centralized through a dedicated central telemetry unit EMR: Epic (experience noted) IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitoring: Philips; vital signs: VS3 monitors Weekend rotation: approximately 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule No on-call or call-back requirements Holiday coverage: one shift per major holiday period (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1) Requirements Active GA or compact RN license required BLS required; ACLS preferred (EKG competency exam required during onboarding) Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Telemetry skills required: cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation, post-cath care, TR band management, and groin site management (no sheath pulls) Required IV drip management: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine (titration for HR; not for BP) Required clinical skills: trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, strong assessment and time management, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education Med/Surg certification is a plus 1 professional reference dated within the past year required, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are accepted; no radius rule applies — the same rate applies to local travelers in GA Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible RTO requests must be approved by the unit manager Orientation consists of 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation Unit support includes CNAs, a unit secretary (on-unit 7A–11P, then house-wide 11P–7A), charge nurse, PICC team, discharge nurses, a floating resource team, respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist (24/7) RNs are responsible for drawing labs from CVLs; most units use lab-collect phlebotomy for other draws Required scrub color for RNs: Navy Unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented American Traveler Job ID P-681313.
