Details Acute care hospital setting in an LDRP unit with 15 combined labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum beds Patient population includes obstetric, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, and patients with pregnancy-complicated HTN or diabetes Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:3 general and 1:1 for actively laboring patients Facility delivers approximately 400 births per year and holds Blue Distinction designation for maternity care RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, Mag, and Procardia EMR system is Epic 12-hour shifts, days or nights (6:00–7:00) Every other weekend required Holiday coverage required as needed No on-call or standby requirement Floating is extremely rare and limited to sitting or task work only during critical staffing situations Requirements Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted Current BLS and NRP certifications required; pending certifications will not be accepted Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Candidates must not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered Additional Information Orientation consists of 1 week of classroom training followed by 2–3 shifts of floor orientation A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on Friday of orientation week; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass — failure results in contract termination Artificial nails are strictly prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination Charge nurse is present on each shift and carries an assignment Unit is recognized as a breastfeeding-friendly environment with high patient experience scores Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position RTO must be disclosed upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and additional RTO will not be approved after consideration American Traveler Job ID P-684236.
