Details IMC (Intermediate Care/Step-down) unit in a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital General onsite telemetry unit with an average daily census of 38 patients Patient population includes cardiac, post-surgical, neurological (CVA), gastrointestinal, and renal cases Required to work every other weekend Night shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1845–0715) Floating is required to like units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital No on-call requirements Charting is done in Cerner (experience required) Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration — pending licensure is not accepted Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted) Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Required work setting experience: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Step-down Required cardiac monitoring skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, onsite and remote telemetry monitoring Required cardiovascular skills: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR Band Required IV/vascular skills: Accessing Ports, Arterial Line Management, Blood Product Administration, Central Line Care/Management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC Line Management, Starting IVs Required medication skills: Heparin Protocols, management and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, PCA Required respiratory skills: Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), External CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen, Non-invasive airway management Required additional skills: Feeding tube care, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal Failure management, CVA care, Surgical drain management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac Cerner EMR experience required SSN and DOB required for consideration 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required Additional Information Teaching hospital experience preferred Level I Trauma experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler Travel pairs are not accepted Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment RTO is ideally no more than 5 days per contract; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval — all RTO requests must be submitted at time of application Scrubs: any solid color accepted Parking permit is required but provided at no cost; permit form is completed during orientation American Traveler Job ID P-685665.
