Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVICU Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/13/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 13, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 2 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience and CVICU or open heart experience, with night shift availability. Details Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of an acute care hospital setting Patient population includes post open heart recovery, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR cases Patient ratios: 1:1 on nights, 2:1 on weekends Specialized procedures and equipment include ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT, LVAD/RVAD, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and arterial line management Documents using Epic; medications dispensed via Pyxis Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts) Every other weekend required Floating is required 13-week contract minimum; longer contracts are available 36 or 48 hours per week may be available Local candidates are accepted Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of critical care (CC) experience required CVICU or open heart experience required Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ECMO, IABP, post cardiac surgery care (direct from OR), Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, cardiac drip titration, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions/PPE Must pass EKG testing prior to start Additional Information Preferred skills include: port access and management, vasoactive drip titration, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ventilator management Self-scheduling unit Orientation includes hospital orientation during week one — candidate must be available for classes each day Navy and/or white scrubs required First-time travelers will not be considered for this position American Traveler Job ID P-685805.
