Immigration Coordinator-HR International Personnel-Mount Sinai Hospital-Hybrid-Full Time-Days
Position Summary:
The Immigration Coordinator is responsible for a range of client service, operational and administrative tasks in the International Personnel (‘IP’) Division of the Human Resources Department. This individual is often the first contact point with our foreign-national customers, and is a friendly and helpful communicator and problem-solver – an ambassador for the Mount Sinai Health System brand. Supports the early stages of the visa application process with document intake and preparation, data entry and records management. This individual also assists with billings and collections, and office management duties. The Immigration Coordinator is a self-starter, eager to learn, and detail-orientated, with often an interest in law, immigration, office operations, and/or human resources.
Responsibilities- Assist in preparing forms for submission to the immigration service (e.g., applications for employment authorization, applications for change of status, applications for adjustment of status; assist with J-1 visa processing overflow, etc.)
- Provide original documents i.e. approval notice, DS2019, and I-20 etc. to employees
- Work with congressional and senate representatives to escalate urgent immigration matters such as pending employment authorization, change of status, and biometrics appointments as needed
- Liaise with Dep’t of State, USCIS, and CBP to facilitate corrections to records, obtain emergency visa appointments, and expedite pending matters
- Notify USCIS of H-1B withdrawal
- Complete I-9 and E-verify and re-verification processes for employees (visa and non-visa holders)
- Manage department budget
- Create records and maintain data in Immigration Tracker software system
- Run monthly status maintenance reports to ensure visa compliance
- Reconcile social security number reports for new hires with HRIS
- Maintain closing files and archiving for storage
- Work closely with Immigration Specialists to provide support where needed for case preparation and submission
- Prepare consular packages for E-3, F-1, H-1B, J-1 visas and for USCIS
- Order supplies and direct calls as needed
- Oversee observer program for Health System
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience Requirements:
- Some office experience, preferred, especially in law, immigration, academic healthcare, or human resources
- Customer service; empathy; high emotional intelligence
- Excel
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with SEVIS and/or Immigration Tracker, preferred

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,074.21 - $74,250.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
